HOMEWORK

  MATH: R-P 2-7
READING: Begin reading your February book!

MATH   - Mrs. Custer
We are tackling a brand new concept involving patterns when multiplying by powers of 10, including when multiplying with decimals.  R-P 2-7 is due Monday.  If you are having trouble, please note that and we will keep at it on Monday

BLOWERS WRITING:
Students are wrapping up their "Snowman" drafts. (Standard W.5.3 -writing a narrative.)
Students are working to incorporate at least 5 of the sentence types that we practiced, some sound words, and most are writing from a snowman's point of view. Students know they have their individual goals for writing to be thinking about as they write. We will be writing a persuasive piece next.

READING: with Mrs. Blowers
Book clubs will be mostly complete by the end of next week.  The standards we are discussing and focusing on are making inferences using text clues and background knowledge, vocabulary building and using new words in our own sentences as well as finding synonyms/antonyms, summarizing, and comparing/contrasting ideas and characters.

Social Studies with Mrs. Custer

We know all about some early European colonies, as well as new vocabulary to help us as we study settlements in the New World.  Please review your notes from this week to go over primary vs. secondary sources, push and pull factors and colonies vs. settlements.
Science with Mrs. Blowers
We began investigating the reason for moon phases and the different phases, how it orbits Earth, and are beginning to discuss lunar and solar eclipses.
Spelling:

The Lesson 15 test was Friday. The new skill for lesson 16 is the spelling words that include blends (bl, scr, etc) Students know they should study the activities we do in class to study for the test as well as practice the words on the list in the spelling tab.
