Week of May 29th

HOMEWORK:     
Study for math, science, and social studies tests.
 
MATH:  We are have been working on composite volume as well as the polygons, quadrilaterals and triangles. 

LANGUAGE ARTS 
Writing: We have had some lessons about poetry and have been writing a variety of poems with some focus on similes and metaphors as well as arts of speech.The kids will present some to the class next week.

READING:  
Last week we watched a couple video clips about the sinking of the Lusitania and then read an article about how it led to the U.S. becoming involved in WWI.

SCIENCE
  We have been investigating behavioral and physical adaptations, learned and innate behaviors, and inherited traits. Test is on Wednesday.


SOCIAL STUDIES:

Continue to study for the test on Tuesday.

HOMEWORK:     

MATH: Pg 172 #'s 4 & 5    (Give #5 a good try, but it may be a tough one)
There is also a back side to this to do.

 MATH:  
There are math tutorials and practice in the order of lessons in the MATH Tab

We are in our last week of measuring in metric and customary units of capacity, length, and weight. We are also learning about line plots. The test will be soon and we will move onto measuring volume.

LANGUAGE ARTS 
Writing: Students are creating a pamphlet advertising a superhero they created. We have been discussing how values are important to character and that superheroes have strong values. Students are including these in their pamphlets. We will share these in the upcoming week.
READING:  
We will wrap up Book Club this week. I have been reminding students of standards that are on the activities they are working on and about strategies we have practiced all year. We have been discussing that now especially is the time to keep that GRIT and STAMINA going and push themselves as this is the last time they will be assessed on the Literature standards this year. As always, students are getting work returned to redo when it's incomplete or not done to what I know is their best. I will change a grade if they show me their capabilities when redoing work.
SCIENCE

We are continuing to discuss behavioral and physical characteristics of animals why observing our hermit crabs. We will be discussing how environmental factors such as drought and hurricanes can affect habit and health of animals.
Social Studies -


We are continuing our study of the Revolutionary War.
 Word Study
 Students took the lesson 28 skill test over double letter word spelling patterns. The next skill lesson is apostrophes.
