HOMEWORK:
MATH: Please check Planners for math homework.
                                                                                                                                          Book Project:
Students have another book chosen and should be reading.
MATH:
There are math tutorials and practice in the order of lessons in the MATH Tab

We have been practicing dividing 4 digit dividends by 2 digit divisors with decimals in the dividend, adding zeros when there is a decimal, and decimal powers of ten.
 LANGUAGE ARTS
Writing:  The Fruit/Veggie election speeches were fun and we all enjoyed the campaign posters & slogans.Tanner Wolters was voted the winner! Congrats!
We are going to begin writing a newspaper - The Hawkeye Press! It's fun for kids as they will have a newspaper template on the computer and are able to assist each other and work together on the document as 3 students will work per page.  Students will be doing an interview and writing this up for the paper as well as writing an interest article that can be either true, or made up, but sounds true. Through this activity we will work on tone, alliteration, best word choices, main idea/detail as well as the usual revising and editing writing.
READING:

We completed our novel The Sign of the Beaver. Everyone wants a sequel, but there isn't one. :(  Next week we will finish up some activities with this book and review for the test on Thursday over the novel. We will move back into nonfiction after that.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
This week we used Power Point slides to review the settlements of Roanoke and Jamestown. We used personal stories to understand push and pull factors before categorizing actual facts from history that led Europeans to get "pushed" out of their country or "pulled" towards moving to the New World.

SCIENCE
We have been reviewing lessons 5, 6, and 7. Students have had material to study for over a week. The test is Monday.
Word Study
Students took the lesson 19 skill test. Next week's skill lesson is using suffixes.  The lesson 20 word list is on the blog which can be helpful for the proofreading section.
